Medical Admission in hours?
Forward to WDPL - Forward-> WPL Weekday PL-> Next-> 6 hrs. Please discuss with WDPL team so they can advise where to direct the patient.
Other specialties and medical admission out of hours
Always refer to specialty unless unable to contact specialty, specialty refuses referral or no alternative to ED (please document these issues in Adastra notes). Contact details for OOH referrals across BNSSG can be found here
Your notes will be visible on Connecting Care 45 minutes after you close the case.
The Mental Health Clinical Assessment Service (MH CAS) operates within BrisDoc on a 24/7 basis.
If your physical health IUC consultation identifies a urgent mental health need that might benefit from the involvement of the MH CAS, you can seek their input by the following process:
- Discussing the case with the Mental Health Clinical Navigator. Please note, all patients in the physical health queue must be contacted by the physical health team initially, to be sure that any physical health needs are addressed.
- If in agreement for MH CAS input, you then forward the case to Urgent Care Follow up queue & inform the Physical Health Shift Manager you have done so.
- The Physical Health Shift Manager will then contact the Mental Health Shift Manager to confirm the case transfer & move the case to the Mental Health queue.
Further information about local MH team support can be found here
- Always refer to specialty, and only send to ED if advised by that speciality or no alternative. Select ‘Agency Referral’ then select desired ED to send referral. Consider ED Advice to discuss borderline cases.
- If referring onto Bristol Children's ED, using Careflow Connect allows your patient details to transfer digitally to their system.
