Neurology and first fit clinic

NBT

NBT is the regional neurology centre.

Neurology hot clinics and advice is available via the neurology consultant :  direct dial 0117 4141917

  • 9am to 5pm.
  • There will be no voicemail for messages.
  • The only use for this phone is for GP advice.
  • If the line is engaged we are speaking to another GP, please call back.
  • After 5pm calls will revert to the on call registrar bleep

Patients with increased seizure frequency

Patients known to neurology for their seizure disorder, who are on 2 or more epileptic medications PLUS are not thought to be having increased seizures due to an acute medical condition (infection for example), can be admitted directly to neurology. The calling clinician can contact the neurology consultant (in hours) or the neurology SpR (out of hours) to discuss a direct admission.

First fit clinic at NBT

Available via eReferral, details on this Remedy Page. A referral form is also available on the above page which requires completion

Patients must fulfil ALL of these criteria:

  • Above 16 years old
  • New onset seizures or blackouts (Syncope should not be referred)
  • Patient has made a full recovery from event
  • Not under a neurologist for seizures/blackouts (please refer back to the team involved)
  • Patient information sheet given out (on Remedy)
