CAS (clinical advice service) 111 calls

Updated on 3rd December 2025

Here is the list of CAS calls we would expect in the Weekday IUC PL

Dx34 – over 85
Dx35 – under 2
Dx82 – medication enquiry
Dx96 – refer for health information within 12 hours
Dx46 – refer to health information within 24 hours
Dx47 – refer to community healthcare professional
Dx45 – service location information
Dx325 – Suspected toxic ingestion/inhalation
Dx64-69 – relate to flu (rarely used)

If a clinician has any in-the-moment concerns about the suitability of a CAS call for our service, please do not request that Practice Plus Group (111) take back the call. Instead, seek advice from Becky Cooke or Julie Marshall if urgent. Otherwise, deal with the call as you are best able (which may include asking the patient to seek assessment from their own GP) and submit a learning event form if necessary
