Pneumothorax on CXR report
If GP receives an x-ray report showing a spontaneous pneumothorax and the patient is otherwise stable, they can discuss with the pleural SpR. Small pneumothoraces <2cm when measured at level of the hilum generally don’t need a chest drain and can be followed up by pleural clinic with a repeat CXR, but sensible to discuss first. Referral to pleural clinic is by email see remedy link : remedy pathway (bnssgccg.nhs.uk)
