Gynaecology on call / take in Bristol

Across Bristol there is a ‘major’ and ‘minor’ on call/ take system for patients requiring admission under Gynaecology. An up-to-date rota for this can be found by following the above link to Remedy.


Which patients are accepted when on major or minor on call/ take?

Major on call  Minor on call
  • All new emergency Gynaecology referrals from GPs

AND: 

  • All women from own Trust Emergency Department
  • All women within 6 weeks of a gynaecological procedure in their Department
  • All women with ongoing gynaecological care in their Department – including early pregnancy problems
  • All women with early pregnancy problems booked at that Trust – see weekend EPC exclusion
  • All women from own Trust Emergency Department
  • All women within 6 weeks of a gynae procedure in their Department
  • All women with ongoing gynaecological care in their department – including early pregnancy problems
  • All women with early pregnancy problems booked at trust – see weekend EPC exclusion

Patients with early pregnancy problems

Patients with problems in early pregnancy should be referred to the Early Pregnancy Assessment Clinic (EPAC). More information on how to refer to EPAC can be found on the Early Pregnancy Assessment Clinic Referral Information page on the Clinical Toolkit here.
