Management
Broad spectrum antibiotic therapy is required. Please follow the current BSSG antibiotic formulary. Patients will usually need to complete a full two week course of antibiotics.
Consider Gynaecology admission if:
- Patient has severe PID (clinically unwell/ high fever/ NEWS, clinical signs of tubo-ovarian abscess, signs of peritonitis) as they may require Iintravenous treatment
- Surgical emergency can not be excluded
- Lack of response/intolerance to oral therapy
- Pregnant (always discuss with Gynaecology)
