Parkinson's Disease and End of Life Care

St Peter's Hospice and North Bristol Trust have written the following framework for professionals supporting patients deteriorating with Parkinson's Disease (PD)

You can find community guidelines for the management of Parkinson's Disease patients with swallowing difficulties HERE.

Please note although rogigotine patches are nor routinely kept in stock at most pharmacies, there is value in prescribing them in the out of hours period.  We recommend asking a relative or carer to contact the pharmacy when they next open to let them know the patches have been prescribed so they can be ordered.   Pharmacies generally need to receive a prescription by 10 am to order the medication and receive it the same day.  Prescribing in out of hours will often mean the patient's receive the patch a day earlier than if it is deferred to the GP practice.
