Why is validation needed?
If a case has not been spine matched, you will not be able to use EPS. The NHS number will be highlighted green for all cases which are matched to the spine. If the NHS number is either blank or white, the case is not matched and requires validation.
How to validate a case
This 45 second video shows you what you need to do to validate a case, and is summarised below:
- In the case record, go to the “Patient details” tab and select the Edit button (middle right of the screen)
- The “Demographics editor” window will open. Once you have checked and amended any incorrect details (eg DOB, spelling of name, address), select “Look up”
- In the “Patient Demographic Lookup Results” window, review each line to ensure they match and select “OK”
- This will return you to the “Demographics Editor” window. The NHS number will now be green. Select “OK” to return to the case record. You will be able to use EPS.
